I currently have a Samsung S7, but have had other phones prior to that with the same issue. I have used different messaging apps to ensure that it' The Android Auto messaging API does not yet have an option for pairing participants with individual messages in a group conversation. This is problematic for drivers when there are multiple unread messages from multiple participants in a group conversation, as the drivers cannot see which group member sent which message.
The Group messages in Android Messages did not import into Signal. Also, I wasn't receiving any MMS messages which seemed odd. Last night, I put my phone in airplane mode for 1 minute and within seconds of turning off airplane mode my MMS messages came through. This morning, as a test, I had a group MMS sent to me that contained an image.

Either of us can send a group message to my wife and she gets that. Tested with my other daughter who has an iPhone 7 as well and same results. Looked in settings->messages and both my wife's and daughter's phones have the same options. I'm at a total loss as to why my daughters can send a group text with my android in it, but my wife can't. This usual this is clearly an old post but i wanted to thank you for pointing me in the right direction. i have no data plan but want to use mms. in android 4.4 i'm unable to directly change these settings, but i exported the .db file where all this data gets stored, and edited the appropriate field to only say "default,mms" and now i get mms and nothing else!
